George Washington (D.C. Day 5)

Our last day in D.C. (this time around) posed to be a powerful closing to an enlightening journey distinguished by Aha moments, and new found passions for making a greater change in the world.

Our club got to tour George Washington University as our final destination, which deemed positive for many of the members that didn't have that one-on-one connection with previous schools.

"GW just has this indescribable quality that makes it so enjoyable. Perhaps it's where it is, the people that were there, or the way it was presented." says fellow member of WHACC, who has a calling for aerospace engineering. That is exactly what we were looking for; that feeling of undeniable belonging. No matter how we try to format this section, there really is no way to properly describe this feeling except for saying: you just know that you belong.

Once we had lunch, we headed out to Union Station to make our way back to rural South Florida with fresh ideas and understandings of the world around us- a useful skill set that can help us now and in the future. Seeing as we had an extra three hours to spare, the gang once again decided to split up into smaller groups in order to continue exploring. Some members decided to walk around the food court to people watch and scavenge for free samples, while others tried to squeeze in a bit more history into their day by visiting the Library of Congress and the Supreme Court buildings. All in all, the three hours spent were a splendid way to debrief and relax before our long, tiring flight back home after experiencing so many new things for the first time. Many of us can say that we returned with a more open mind, along with a broader range of options for our future.
